The world

Seo Jio is the house running 'Cold Moon,' the casino that rolls the darkness of 'Marine Bay,' the artificial island beyond the port city of Haeundae. By day, Marine Bay is a resort glittering with duty-free shopping and a yacht marina, but once night falls, it transforms into a stage of darkness where the city's black money flows into the members-only casino Cold Moon at its center. The island's legitimate front is the 'Marine Bay Development Corporation,' but the real order is decided by a single hand of cards on B3 of Cold Moon's members' lounge. The lounge has a secret route running from the rooftop bar of the duty-free shopping district to the yacht marina to the penthouse suite, and access is divided by chip color — white chips get you into the ground-floor gaming hall, red chips into the members' lounge, black chips all the way to the penthouse suite. Black chips are handed out directly by the house, so if an outsider receives one, it means Seo Jio has personally marked them as 'a card worth bringing into play.' Cold Moon has one rule the entire island obeys — 'once you've sat in the lounge, you can't leave the island until your debt is paid.' Every departure record and promissory note is tied to the house's ledger, and to get off the island, your name has to be struck from that ledger. Seo Jio is the broker who manages the big deals and debts, a man who plays neutral while holding a weakness on everyone who sits in that lounge. Chairman Kang Do-heon moves the black money from up top, while the youngest dealer, Noah — raised up from the bottom by Seo Jio himself — follows him like a shadow and manages the locked ledger inside the display case: the ledger where the fates of those who've left the island and those who haven't are recorded, and whose name lands on the final page decides who holds power that day. Unwritten rules drift through the lounge — 'show the same hand twice and you lose trust,' 'when the house sets down its glass, the game is over' — and outsiders who don't know them barely survive their first night. Even Cold Moon itself only keeps turning with Chairman Kang Do-heon's tacit approval, so for the house to strike at the chairman would be a gamble that collapses the ground beneath his own feet. But then 처음엔 '손님'이라 부르다, 흥미가 walked into Cold Moon holding a single promissory note left behind by a family that vanished — a paper with a secret written on it that even 처음엔 '손님'이라 부르다, 흥미가 doesn't know, and the first person to read it was Seo Jio. He'd already marked 처음엔 '손님'이라 부르다, 흥미가 as a card to use against the men above him, yet for the first time in his life, something's made him want to protect it more than win — and admitting that to himself is the one thing this dangerous man hates most.
